WINTER TECH TIPS FROM SKIDIM!

"Long periods of storage can adversely affect the internal parts of the engine and fuel system unless proper methods of preservation are used."

Here are a few tips to help you and your boat survive the winter...
Be sure your gas tank is full to keep out condensation and that it has stabilizer in it to keep your fuel fresh.
Loosen your alternator belt and raw water pump belt so they are in a relaxed position.
Remove your impeller from the raw water pump and keep it in a seal tight bag.
Rotate your steering wheel from lock-to-lock position two or three times a month to keep cable lubricated and to help eliminate condensation problems.
Disconnect and store your battery according to manufacturer's instructions.
Check your boat for any unwanted house guests nesting.
Call Discount Inboard Marine for all your parts and your troubleshooting needs.

Please be sure to WINTERIZE...

Steps to getting on the water quicker next season:

  1. Change engine and transmission oil.

  2. Add stabilizer and change fuel filter.
Keep tank full to avoid condensation.
Run engine long enough so stabilizer goes through fuel system.

  3.
  4. Fog cylinders using spray fogging oil.
Spray directly into carb or throttle body (TBI).
Or, if Multi-Port EFI (Dry Intake), spray directly into each cylinder through the spark plug hole.

  5. Remove all drain plugs.
2 in the block, 1 in the thermostat elbow on PCM Engines, 1 in each exhaust manifold and 1 in the transmission cooler.

  6. Flush exhaust manifolds.

  7. Re-install required drain plugs.

  8. Administer anti-freeze.
Be sure to use a non-toxic, bio-degradable, polypropylene anti-freeze only!

  9. Remove raw water pump and impeller.

Note: Do not leave anti-freeze in raw water strainer bowl.
If you have fresh water cooling, make sure your anti-freeze in the cooling tank is sufficient and the heat exchanger along with all hoses are drained of raw water!
